Who Are We?

We’re Alex and Charlie, two unlikely besties with a shared passion for great venues, strong cocktails, and deeply unserious takes on the world.

• Alex is the adventurous “try something different” guy. He’s got upmarket tastes, a love for cars, and a soft spot for tech and heavy industry. Introverted by nature, but put him in the right spot with the right drink, and he’ll wax poetic about the perfect ambiance. If there’s something bizarre on the menu, he’s ordering it.

• Charlie is the extroverted go-getter, the phallic (shaped) food afficionado, the people person, and the looks brains of the duo. She’s just as happy sipping cocktails in a bougie bar as she is knitting in the corner of her local pub. She mingles effortlessly with strangers (prefereably avec a pupper) and always knows the best places to go.

Since becoming friends sometime in 2023, we figured that our relationship mostly centered around foodie calls. So we’ve been hunting down Melbourne’s best (and worst) date spots ever since. We may come from wildly different backgrounds, but what we do have in common is a love of great company, great vibes, and any excuse to drink cocktails on a school night.

How WIGML Was Born

It all started at Firebird in Prahran (review coming soon). We were a few cocktails in, absolutely loving the ambiance, the food, and the whole experience when Charlie casually said, “We should start a blog about this.”

A few more drinks later, and thinking of what to call this thing, we started asking ourselves what is the most important question when it comes to finding an appropriate date spot? and the name Will It Get Me Laid? was born, it should be pretty self evident as to the “why” of that…

Alex bought the domain on the spot, and we realized that we had something fun on our hands.

What We Actually Do

WIGML is here to rate, review, and recommend date night spots in Melbourne based on their vibes, energy, and chemistry potential. This isn’t just about food—we care about the experience.

What we won’t do? Actually tell you if a place will get you laid. That’s between you and your date as two consenting adults. We’re just here to set the scene.
